"The Phantom Of The Opera" - Lon Chaney's stunningly memorable performance as a terribly deformed phantom with a soft spot for music and a beautiful singer make this film a truly unforgettable cinematic experience worthy of being called a quintessential horror film. As a man forced to hide beneath shadows and masks, Erik, the so-called phantom of the opera, becomes enchanted by the singing of the beautiful Christine and falls in love with her; however, as in all great melodramas, love is not an option for the physically grotesque. After pining for his love, Erik can wait no longer to possess her. He kidnaps Christine and holds her hostage in his secret, underground lair. With lavish production values and spectacular sets, the creepy, ghostly world of the phantom strikes a chord with your consciousness, and never lets you go. "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" - "The man of a thousand faces," Lon Chaney, again stars as an anguished and ugly outcast, this time donning a 50-pound hairy hump to become Quasimodo - the hunchback with a heart of gold in the film version of Victor Hugo's "The Hunchback Of Notre Dame." Set in 16th century Paris, the story unfolds when the downtrodden hunchback is forced into a sinister plot to kidnap the young gypsy beauty, Esmeralda (Patsy Ruth Miller), by the lustful Jehan (Brandon Hurst). Unsuccessful in his attempts, Quasimodo is captured and publicly whipped. While all the others enjoy his humiliation and pain, it is only Esmeralda who shows him pity and kindness. She offers him water, and in return wins the gratitude and heart of Quasimodo. When she finds herself imprisoned after being falsely accused of murder by the spiteful Jehan, the hunchback swings into action, rescuing her from the gallows and doggedly fighting off her pursuers. Filmed at the height of the silent film era, "The Hunchback Of Notre Dame" is a spectacular production with gargantuan sets, lavish costumes, and brilliant performances.

Behind the Mask of the Horror Actor
Behind the Mask of the Horror Actor
Actor Doug Bradley, who portrays Pinhead in Clive Barker's Hellraiser films, gives his own unique and personal guide to cinema monsters and the men who portray them, including legends Lon Chaney and Boris Karloff, and unforgettable creatures like The Wolf Man, Frankenstein's Monster, The Phantom of the Opera and The Hunchback of Notre Dame. He also examines the many roles the mask has played throughout time, and the physical rigours that actors who play monsters must endure. Coming up to date, he meets the actors behind modern-day monsters Leatherface (Texas Chain Saw Massacre), Freddy Krueger (Nightmare on Elm Street), and Jason (Friday the 13th). Plus, of course, Bradley recounts the making of the Hellraiser movies in detail, revealing just what it's like to actually be the man behind the mask...

Opera Bear - Opera Bear is a fictional cartoon bear who appeared in a single commercial for Honeycomb cereal in the mid 1990s. His white face-mask, flowing purple cape and name all seem to indicate that he was meant to be the anthropomorphic ursine equivalent of the Phantom of the Opera.

Ken Hill's Phantom of the Opera - Ken Hill's Phantom of the Opera is the first musical adaptation of the novel Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux. It deals with the hideously disfigured Phantom's amorous obsession with the magnificent, naive singer, Christine.
